Senior Business Controller | Thales

His role at Thales: Since beginning of 2022, Nicholas is senior business controller for the Transportation business. Between 2018 and 2021, he was leading the Finance and Controlling team of one of the Business Line of Thales Germany. The Business Line MIS is specialised in producing Traveling Waves Tubes for Satellites. Between 2016 and 2018 I was in charge of the Finance Transformation of Thales Germany.

His experience: Living in 5 different countries across 3 different continents (France, USA, Luxembourg, Singapore and Germany) gave him the capacity to integrate himself quickly and understand different local and working cultures. His 7 years' experience as a consultant and auditor for a Big 4 company helped him develop a goal oriented mind-set as well as a high sense of commitment and responsibility. He is a fast learner, easy to connect with and a strong believer of managing by example. Staying up to date with the recent trends and developing himself is a primary focus for him.

His private life: He is married and a happy father of two young daughters. They both learn from each other and enjoy reading french books together and play outside. When he's not busy with his daughters, he is exercising, cooking and spending quality time with friends. Finally, traveling and tasting new food are some of his favorite experiences. But if you ask him where is the most beautiful place and where can we find the best food in the world, he has only one response: his hometown, Brittany in France.

Which problem does FP&A and Controlling solve for Finance teams- consistency of data, collaboration, modeling, reporting? Nicolas is talking about the importance of change management and training to upskill finance teams and business partners, as well as how to spend more time on the analysis and less time on data preparation.
